iOS 18.4 Update: New Apple Intelligence Features, Emojis, and Priority Notifications

Apple’s recent release of iOS 18.4 introduces a host of new features and enhancements designed to elevate the user experience. From the expansion of Apple Intelligence to the addition of expressive emojis, here’s a comprehensive look at what’s new.

Apple Intelligence Now Supports More Languages and Regions

With iOS 18.4, Apple Intelligence extends its capabilities to include several new languages: French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. Localized English support has also been introduced for users in Singapore and India. This expansion makes Apple Intelligence accessible in nearly all regions globally, enhancing its utility for a broader user base.

Introduction of Priority Notifications

A notable addition in this update is the Priority Notifications feature. Leveraging Apple Intelligence, this function highlights important alerts that may require immediate attention, displaying them prominently at the top of the notification stack on the Home Screen. This ensures that critical information is not overlooked amidst other notifications.

Eight New Emojis Enhance User Expression

iOS 18.4 enriches the emoji library with eight new additions, including a harp, shovel, fingerprint, barren tree, radish, the flag of Sark, a purple splatter, and an ‘exhausted’ face featuring dark under-eye bags and a weary expression. The ‘exhausted’ emoji, in particular, has resonated with users, with many predicting it will become one of the most used emojis of the year.

Managing Apple Intelligence Features

For users who may not be ready to integrate AI-driven features into their daily routines, iOS 18.4 offers options to manage or disable Apple Intelligence functionalities. Users can navigate to Settings > Apple Intelligence to toggle specific features on or off, providing control over their device’s AI interactions.

Additional Enhancements

Beyond these major updates, iOS 18.4 introduces improvements to the Photos app, including enhanced filtering options and the ability to sort by date modified. Apple News+ subscribers can also enjoy a new Food section featuring recipes and a dedicated Cooking mode, enriching the content available through the service.
