Melania Trump is ridiculed as she desperately tries to ignore least popular First Lady title

Americans had to Melania Trump’s list of achievements for the year with laughs after she was voted the least popular First Lady for a second time.

Posting to social media platform X, Melania shared a ticklist of her “success highlights” of 2025, including the Take It Down Act, requiring online platforms to remove intimate images which have been shared non-consensually, and AI-generated ‘deepfakes’ within 48 hours of a victim’s request.

The post also highlights the White House hosting a task force on AI education and the government’s AI education program in US schools, alongside reuniting Ukrainian and Russian children and families in spite of renewed conflict. The celebratory post was shared only a day before Melania was voted the least popular US First Lady again.

Some social media users have mocked the post in different ways, with some noting other actions taken by the First Lady in the last year, while others shared their disbelief at the achievement list. One shared their own highlights for the year.

Commenting on the post, one user said, “Thank you, First Lady Melania and Team! 2025 @drefanzor Success Highlights:

made a bunch of memes
did a little trolling
made more memes”

Another person said, “Also: hiding Barron in the basement completing infomercial for Amazon, pocketed $40 million getting big per diems for appearing at Trump Events.”

“You reunited 7-8 Ukraine children of the thousands kidnapped, by the war criminal Putin,” someone else said. “Meanwhile Putin’s soldiers continue to murder, rape and mutilate, women and children, for fun, daily. Remember your habitual lying, conman husband, saying he would end the war in Ukraine, one day.”

Another simply added, “Yeah sure ya did, Jan.”

According to YouGov data, Melania’s popularity has dropped to 36%, a record low. The breakdown shows that 43% of Americans dislike her, and 18% stated that they have a neutral stance towards her.

When Melania left White House in 2021, she had an approval rating of 42%, which was the lowest on record for any first lady, but she has beaten her own record this year.

Negative public perception towards Melania could be contributed to a number of factors including her association with Trump’s highly polarizing political image, her low key public profile, and multiple controversies during her time in the White House.

This stands in stark contrast to other cherished first ladies from previous administrations who enjoyed significantly higher approval ratings, such as Michelle Obama, wife of Barack Obama.

Throughout her tenure at the White House, she spearheaded multiple programs that established her own distinct identity, including efforts to expand educational access for Americans, tackle childhood obesity, and various other causes.
