Donald Trump has expressed hopes that a peace deal signed at a global summit in Egypt will pave the way for “the rebuilding of Gaza.”
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after returning from Sharm el-Sheikh, where world leaders met to celebrate the agreement, Trump said the deal had fulfilled “the prayers of millions.”
When asked whether the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel and the return of Israeli hostages could lead to the creation of a Palestinian state, Trump clarified, “We’re talking about rebuilding Gaza. I’m not talking about a single state or two-state solution — we’re focused on rebuilding Gaza.”
His broader 20-point peace plan reportedly includes forming a “board of peace” to oversee a transitional authority for Gaza, which would be chaired by the U.S. president.
