“Trump’s not a leader — he’s a criminal,” says Harrison Ford, calling him the most corrupt figure in U.S. history

Legendary actor Harrison Ford delivered a fierce critique of former President Donald Trump, accusing him of being corrupt and dangerously dismissive of science, especially when it comes to climate change.

Speaking with The Guardian on Friday, Ford expressed deep frustration over Trump’s leadership style, claiming the former president governs based on impulse rather than informed policy.

“It scares the hell out of me,” Ford said. “The ignorance, the arrogance, the lies — it’s staggering. Trump knows better, but he’s a tool of the system, profiting while the planet suffers.”

The Indiana Jones and Star Wars star went on to describe Trump as “the most corrupt person in U.S. history,” adding that his actions and rhetoric continue to harm progress on crucial global issues.

Ford criticized Trump’s “drill, baby, drill” agenda, arguing that such policies only accelerate environmental damage. “He’s losing ground because every word he says is a lie,” Ford stated.

Despite his frustration, the actor expressed hope that humanity still has time to combat the climate crisis.

“I believe we can still change course,” Ford said. “We’re inventive, adaptable, and capable of incredible things when we focus on solving problems — but we need the political will to do it.”

Known for his passion for conservation, Ford also poked fun at Trump’s opposition to wind energy, joking that “he probably hates wind turbines because he hasn’t seen a gold one yet.”

The interview took place before Ford’s appearance at Chicago’s Field Museum, where he received a conservation award from the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation. The foundation honored him for his long-standing environmental advocacy and friendship with the late biologist E.O. Wilson.

Ford has consistently voiced his opposition to Trump’s policies. In 2024, he endorsed then–Vice President Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign against Trump, emphasizing the need for integrity and unity in leadership.

“Trump demands blind loyalty and promises revenge,” Ford said in a campaign video supporting Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Interestingly, Ford’s on-screen portrayal of President James Marshall in Air Force One remains one of the most beloved fictional presidents in movie history — a role that, for many fans, stands in sharp contrast to the real-life politics he now condemns.
